Papa John's buys Pizza & A Movie firm

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Papa John's International, Inc. has acquired the Pizza & A Movie concept and related programs from Peter Connors and his company, Idols & Friends Entertainment.

According to a news release, Connors and business partner James Howard test marketed Pizza & A Movie at Papa John's stores in Austin, Texas, beginning in the fall of 2003.

Prior to developing Pizza & A Movie, Connors was marketing director of, where he led its inaugural Super Bowl advertising and PR campaigns. He was previously an account executive with Young & Rubicam in New York and is a graduate of the Boston University College of Communication.

Papa John's hasn't discussed the terms of the deal, or how it will affect other Papa John's stores in the future. It's also not clear whether Connors will serve Papa John's in any capacity that would develop the concept further.
