Papa John's fans bet on 'heads' for Super Bowl coin toss

A majority – 60 percent – of the millions of fans enrolled in Papa John's Rewards program predicted that Super Bowl XLVI's opening coin toss will land on "heads."

If they're right, they will receive a free large one-topping pizza and 2-liter Pepsi MAX.

Customers enrolled in the loyalty program had the opportunity to make a guess for the past 10 days at PapaJohns.com. Those who aren't enrolled have time to do so until 6 p.m. Eastern time Feb. 5 for the chance to win.

"We're thrilled with the response of NFL fans and our customers to Papa John's Super Bowl Coin Toss Experience," said John Schnatter, Papa John's founder, chairman and CEO. "Recognizing it's not every day that you get a chance for free pizza and Pepsi MAX on the simple flip of a coin, we expect the rush of people signing up for Papa Rewards to continue right up until the official coin is tossed."

Papa John's announced the promotion in mid-January. The company tapped NFL quarterback and Super Bowl XLI champion Peyton Manning and Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist and Super Bowl XL champion Jerome "The Bus" Bettis to help spread the word.

Papa John's is in the second year of a multi-year sponsorship with the NFL.
