Papa John's franchisee recognized for community involvement

Beach Boys Pizza, an 11-unit Papa John's franchisee, won the company's 2012 National Humanitarian Award for its involvement in local communities.

According to Southern Maryland News, Beach Boys Pizza was given the award at the National Papa John's Convention in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month. It won the recognition over more than 4,000 other corporate and franchise locations worldwide.

Beach Boys Pizza uses its website and online promotional codes to fundraise for local charities and organizations. Its partners in 2012 included the American Diabetes Association, Calvert Marine Musuem Waterside Concert Series, End Hunger of Calvert County, Multiple Sclerosis, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, SOMD First Responder Scholarship Fund, the USO and other organizations, schools and non-profits.
