Papa John's kicks off 'Go Deep' online Super Bowl tie-in

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's is launching its Go Deep Challenge Super Bowl tie-in to promote orders through its Web site and give entrants the chance to win a free large pan pizza.

According to a news release, from now until 6 p.m. Eastern on Feb. 5 (Super Bowl Sunday), consumers can register to win free pizza at papajohns.com. If a quarterback from either the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Seattle Seahawks throws a touchdown pass longer than 85 yards — the current Super Bowl record — they win.

Papa John's marketing vice president Jim Ensign said breaking the record is not unrealistic. "In fact, a touchdown pass of more than 80 yards has happened during the big game five times, as recently as two years ago by Carolina."

Should the record be broken, the chain also will give free pizza for life to both the quarterback and the receiver who accomplish that.

Just for registering, consumers receive a pair of free 20-ounce Coca-Cola products available with the online purchase of any large Papa's Perfect Pan specialty pizza at regular menu price.

The chain is also encouraging advance online ordering to allow fans to plan ahead to have their orders submitted.
