Papa John's Pizza launches 'Fling It & Wing It' campaign

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's Pizza is inviting armchair quarterbacks across America to test their throwing arms for a chance to win a trip to the Super Bowl in Miami Feb. 4.
According a news release, Papa John's "Fling It & Wing It" Armchair Quarterback Challenge works like this: At participating Circuit City stores and select tailgating venues in playoff markets, fans compete to see how far they can throw a football while reclining in a chair and holding an order of Papa John's new bold and spicy Papa's Wings. Fumbling the wings while passing results in an offside penalty and an incomplete pass. The fan in each market who flings a football the farthest will win free Papa John's pizza and the new Papa's Wings for a year.
In the two markets with teams advancing to the Super Bowl, fans with the 10 longest throws will compete in a showdown for the chance to earn an all-expenses-paid trip to Miami. Once there, two divisional winners will compete in the Papa John's "Fling It & Wing It" Armchair Quarterback Challenge finale Feb. 3. The event will be emceed by ESPN Live host and NFL analyst, Trey Wingo.
In January, when fans visit for a listing of contest locations and complete rules, they'll also be treated to a series of exclusive videos featuring Wingo, along with new videos unveiled each Monday throughout the NFL playoff season.
"No one knows football like Trey — and with a last name like Wingo, we think he naturally knows a little something about wings, too," said Bill Van Epps, Papa John's president, USA.
Papa John's sells more pizza and wings during high-stakes football games than any other time throughout the year. Just in time for the playoffs, Papa John's has introduced new, bold, spicier flavor wings — a perfect addition to those football-watching parties throughout the winter.
