LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's is doing a nationwide promotion of its Papa's Sweetreats personal dessert pizzas.
According to a news release, the dessert pies performed well in several test markets in 2005, which led to this year's rollout at its 2,600 domestic units.
"Many of our customers have told us they crave something sweet after enjoying the zesty taste of pizza," said Catherine Hull, Papa John's vice president of strategy and brand marketing.
Papa's Sweetreats are baked on a six-inch, personal-sized pan crust, which uses a uniquely sweet dough. Available flavors are Very Berry, Apple Twist or Cinna Swirl, and all are laced with a light icing. Regularly, Papa's Sweetreats sell for $2.99 each, but in January the chain is giving them away with the purchase of a large two-topping pizza for $11.99.
