Papa Tony's Pizza closes weeks after converting from Papa John's

DEKALB, Ill. — Just two months after converting about 30 Papa John's units to Papa Tony's Pizza stores, Papa Tony's closed at least 23 Chicago-area units, and possibly several more in the Detroit area.

According to the Northern Star, employees say Papa Tony's units here are either late with their paychecks or haven't paid some at all.

The closures make worse an already challenging situation for Papa Tony's owner, Tony Rezkin. Papa John's is suing the former franchisee for its failure to honor its franchise agreement.
