Pizza and Pipes gets unwanted drive-thru window

June 16, 2003

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Employees of Pizza and Pipes had to run for cover on May 17, when a mini-van crashed through the store's front window and into the dining room (click here to see photos).

According to owner and self-dubbed "director of improvement," Randy Blair, the driver lost control of her vehicle and caused the accident.

Only a few employees and customers were in the restaurant at the time of the accident, and neither they nor the driver were injured. A stainless steel table and salad bar didn't fare as well, however.

Making the best of the situation, Blair used the accident as an opportunity to install a new deli case in which to display salads and pastas.
