A few pizza chains are showing they have a heart -- for marketing, anyway -- on Valentine's Day.
Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake Pizza, based in Vancouver, Wash., is selling a bake-at-home heart-shaped pizza, and Boston Pizza, headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, is rolling out its annual, one-day Valentine's pie.
Boston Pizza is sharing the love with Canada's Heart and Stroke Foundation. by donating $1 from the sale of each special pizza.
"Boston Pizza has already contributed close to $1 million dollars to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, which makes us all very proud," said Boston Pizza president and COO, Mike Cordoba.
According to its Web site, Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Papa Romano's has sold heart-shaped pizzas for 16 years. The one-topping pizzas are made in heart-shaped pans, delivered in a special red box and sold for $5.99.
Papa Romano's also will deliver 300 Valentines pizzas to the nurses at Children's Hospital of Michigan today, and donate $2 from the sale of the first 2,003 heart-shaped pizzas sold at its stores in the Detroit Metro Area.
