Pizza Fusion plans airport expansion

May 3, 2013

Pizza Fusion has announced a strategic alliance with MERA Corporation, a foodservice contract management company, to expand the chain into airports throughout the United States.

At Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) International Airport, MERA is in the final stages of bidding for two Pizza Fusion restaurants at terminals one and two. If awarded, Pizza Fusion will join Johnny Rockets, Peet's Coffee, Smashburger, Betty's Soul Food, Which Wich and Wolfgang Puck Fresh Express, as well as local brands The Floridian, 15th Street Fisheries, Duffy's Grill and ARC Broward Culinary Institute.

"We selected MERA for its seasoned operational team. Their expertise lends to our objective of developing Pizza Fusion with strong owner operators behind the brand," said Vaughan Lazar, CEO of Pizza Fusion. "And what better way to kick off our relationship with MERA than by targeting the Fort Lauderdale airport? The opportunity to represent our hometown, where it all started for Pizza Fusion, is very exciting."

In addition to the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, Pizza Fusion and MERA are targeting a number of airports nationally.
