Pizza Hut kicking off Visa Checkout partnership with national ad campaign, giveaway

Pizza Hut’s partnership with the new Visa Checkout platform – first announced in July – will officially kickoff with a new national TV ad campaign debuting Sunday. The commercial will feature professional surfer Kolohe Andino, who will be showcased paying for his Pizza Hut order using Visa Checkout while surfing a wave.

Also to mark the partnership, Pizza Hut will give away a free large, one-topping pizza to the first 1 million customers who order using the Visa Checkout platform. The offer is redeemable on the subsequent order.

“Visa Checkout offers our customers another simple and secure way to quickly order online from Pizza Hut, and we’re excited to be the first pizza company to pass along this convenience to consumers,” CMO Carrie Walsh said in a news release. “With this incredible offer of one million pizzas we think people will be energized to experience this latest technology.”

Visa has also unveiled a multi-million dollar North American consumer marketing campaign – the first ever for the Visa Checkout product. The campaign will include national television and digital advertising, social engagement programs, retailer promotions, and client activation programs, each designed to “highlight the simplicity and utility of the offering,” the release said.

National Cheese Pizza Day

Additionally, Pizza Hut is celebrating the NFL season kickoff tonight and National Cheese Pizza Day on Friday by offering a large cheese pizza for the promotional price of $7 both days. The offer is good for online orders at PizzaHut.com using the promotional code: BIGCHEESE.
