LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- YUM! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM) has reported that strong performance at Taco Bell stores plus moderate gains at KFC outlets pushed its estimated U.S. blended same-store sales at company restaurants up 2 percent during the four-week period ended August 10, 2002 (Period 8).
Sales at Taco Bell were up 10 percent, while KFC stores gained 3 percent.
Pizza Hut, however, returned flat numbers for the period, continuing a string of sub-par performances for the year.
YUM's estimated international system sales increased 11 percent after conversion to U.S. dollars.
According to a company release, encouraging sales results have led it to increase its third-quarter ongoing operating earnings-per-share guidance to 47 cents from a projected range of 45 cents to 47 cents.
These most recent results don't reflect performance at YUM's recently acquired brands, Long John Silver's and A&W All American Foods.
