Dallas-based Pizza Hut, known for its frequent new product roll-outs, now has a calzone-style sandwich called the P'Zone.
According to Business First, it's essentially a medium-size pizza that is topped and folded in half, forming the classic half-moon shape.
The P'Zone will be available at participating Pizza Hut locations this year from late January through April. It feeds two and sells for $5.99.
According to The New York Times, a total of $70 million will be spent on advertising, and TV commercials will begin on Jan. 27.
Pizza Hut tested the P'Zone last year from August to October, and claims to have run out of ingredients for it in the first week. The product later showed the highest repeat sales figures for any Pizza Hut pizza in a test market.
A point-of-purchase promotion as well as national print and broadcast advertising is planned to support the launch.
