Pizza Hut upgrades iPhone app

Pizza Hut Australia has released an upgraded version of its iPhone mobile app that includes an augmented reality function.

"By pointing the camera's phone in a certain direction, you can identify the location of your closest Pizza Hut," said Baron Concors, chief technology and digital officer of Pizza hut.

The new feature was necessary, Concors said, because mobile devices are quickly becoming a key part of everyone's daily life.

"By being everywhere our customers want us to be, our mobile apps allow our customers to quickly order," he said.

Other new iPhone features include: A more streamlined ordering system, pizza customization and the ability for customers to save their favorite orders and set timed delivery orders.

The augmented reality feature is not available in the United States, and no such launch plans exist, said Chris Fuller, director of social media and public relations for Pizza Hut U.S.
