Pizza Hut's media account goes to Optimedia

Yum! Brands' Pizza Hut has handed its $217 million U.S. media account to Publicis Groupe's Optimedia after a review that began in June.

According to Ad Age, WPP-owned MEC has handled the duties for more than a decade and was defending the account.

Kurt Kane, Pizza Hut's CMO, said the chain and MEC are parting ways amicably.

Optimedia's work will debut in 2012.

Other agencies that participated in the review were Interpublic Group of Cos.' Universal McCann and Interpublic-owned Ingenuity Media, an arm of the Martin Agency, which handles Pizza Hut's creative and digital.
