LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Yum! Brands, Inc., parent company of Dallas-based Pizza Hut, reported sales for the number-one pizza chain shot up 9 percent for the four weeks ended Feb. 21, 2004.
According to a news release, the numbers stand in stark contrast to the comparable period last year, when store comps dropped 6 percent.
Though it wasn't noted in the release, the sharp sales increase likely is due to the chain's new 4ForALL pizza, released in late January.
The company only reports sales numbers from its 1,760 company-owned stores, which make up less than 25 percent of its domestic system.
