Pizza Pan reaps benefits of new online ordering system

CLEVELAND — eOrderManager, an innovative new software package that allows customers to place food orders online, was recently launched at Pizza Pan, home of the "Buy One Get Two Free" pizza and ribs promotion.

According to a news release, the ordering system is designed specifically for quick-service and casual dining restaurants.

Created by O-Web Technologies of Cleveland, the ordering system can be deployed in a rapid timeframe and yields an immediate return. (Read also Web ordering: From computer to makeline.)

"We are excited to help bring this new technology to Pizza Pan's rapidly growing family," said Stan Garber, senior sales manager for O-Web Technologies. "With the addition of 50 units a year, the use of online ordering will definitely give these new locations an immediate boost in sales."

Without yet promoting the online ordering option in-store, Pizza Pan drew 327 new customer "members" in the first month the site was live. Moreover, the average online ticket is $22.32, significantly higher than the average in-store check.

The system runs off the franchisor's Web site, yet it was designed for individual franchise owners. Mike DeGirolamo, director of franchise development for Pizza Pan and a franchisee himself, said he couldn't be happier with the effect of eOrderManager on his business.

"Our online ordering system increases order accuracy and improves productivity by keeping our employees off the phone," DeGirolamo said.

Pizza Pan currently uses eOrderManager in 15 of its 96 locations and plans to expand online ordering to the majority of its locations by year's end. With consumers becoming increasingly more comfortable making purchases online, Pizza Pan expects to give out lots more free pizzas in the near future.
