Pizzeria manager frustrated with gang harassment

ILFORD, England -- A manager of a Pizza Hut carryout unit in Ilford claims that a gang of 30 youths is continually harassing him, his staff and customers almost nightly.

According to the Ilford Recorder, manager Martin Nevill called the youths "lawless" and without "respect for anyone."

Requests for extra police in the area, he added, haven't solved the problem, which includes theft of and damage to the store's seven delivery motorcycles.

Nevill said the youths also have shouted racial epithets at employees coming to work, and that he once was forced to lock the store's front door because he feared a small riot might occur.

Police spokesman Harry Moth said the escalating situation will be examined more closely.

"We will have a look at what he is saying and see what we can do," Moth said. "This will be taken up, and I feel the police have got to get to grips with this problem."
