Punch Pizza lands college sports endorsement

Another sign that Punch Pizza, a small Neapolitan pizza chain in Minnesota, is playing like the big boys? The company just announced that it’s the official pizza sponsor of women’s sports at University of Minnesota. The announcement comes on the heels of Papa John’s release of its elaborate sports programming marketing this football season.

Punch Pizza, co-founded by Caribou Coffee co-founder John Puckett, is a seven-store-strong pizza chain with an emphasis on true Neapolitan ingredients such as fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, and the blackened crust that signifies its high cooking temperatures.

The concept seems to be on a growth trajectory to make Neapolitan-style pizza more mainstream.
