RedBrick Pizza Worldwide announced in a release that its newest pizza crust is made with the acai berry, a fruit known for its health-promoting, antioxidant properties. Using the acai berry in the whole wheat, multigrain artisan crust is unique in the industry, according to RedBrick Pizza's president, Jim Minidis.

"We are very excited about the release of this phenomenal pizza -- the first ever of its kind in the world," said Minidis. "A typical whole wheat pizza tends to be dry and bland, but RedBrick's whole wheat artisan crust has a unique, flavorful taste because of the combination of the acai berry, 100 percent pure virgin olive oil and multigrains."

Fire-roasted in just three minutes at 1,000 degrees in RedBrick ovens, the gourmet pizza is said to be moist, yet crunchy.

"We stand behind our claim that RedBrick pizzas are healthier and better for our customers because they have less calories, fat, carbohydrates and sodium than ordinary pizzas," said Minidis.

RedBrick Pizza has garnered numerous accolades from trade and business press nationwide. In 2008, Restaurant Business magazine ranked RedBrick Pizza 8th of "The Future 50" fastest-emerging growing chains in America, while it ranked 254th in Entrepreneur Magazine's 2010 Franchise 500.
