WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- Jim Collier, chief executive of Restaurant Brands Ltd., is stepping down in August to accept a senior management position at an undisclosed company in his native Australia.

Dow Jones reported that Vicki Salmon, a six-year Restaurant Brands director, would be acting chief executive until a replacement for Collier can be found. The company operates the Pizza Hut, KFC and Starbucks franchises in New Zealand and Australia.

Salmon is chairman of the company's audit committee and helped introduce the Starbucks franchise to New Zealand.

Danny Diab will oversee the company's Pizza Hut business in the Australian state of Victoria, the news service reported.

Chairman Bill Falconer said Collier made a major contribution during his tenure with the company.

"He led the company through the introduction of the Starbucks franchise, the acquisition of Eagle Boys and the recent investment in Pizza Hut outlets in Australia," he said.
