Restaurants brace for busy Mother's Day

Restaurant operators had best show their 'A game' on May 12. A new Technomic poll found that more than half of consumers plan to take their moms out to eat that day in celebration of Mother's Day.

Just one-fifth plan to celebrate with a meal in their own home, or the home of a relative or friend. The other respondents either haven't made plans yet, plan to skip the celebration or not include a meal.

Mother's Day rituals also differ by ethnic group, with Hispanics and African Americans more likely to celebrate with a restaurant meal, according to Technomic.
