HAMILTON, New Zealand -- A Hamilton boy working as a Pizza Haven mascot was beaten to the ground by a group of youths on the eve of April 12.
The 14-year-old boy was standing on a street corner wearing the suit -- a pizza shaped head with sunglasses and a crown -- when he was attacked by as many as five youths.
According to the Waikato Times, Pizza Haven owner Ian King said the group asked the boy inside the suit whether he was a boy or a girl, but before he could answer, they punched him in the body and face and left him lying in the gutter.
The boy suffered bruising and a bloody nose.
After King was told of the attack, he chased and cornered two of the four suspects in a shopping mall, where staff held them until police arrived.
