LOUISVILLE, KY -- Papa John's International has fired vice president of marketing Syl Sosnowksi.
Sosnowski has not worked at the company's Louisville headquarters since August, but at last report, was negotiating a severance.According to Chris Sternberg, director of investor relations for the 2,600-store chain, the company is actively seeking a replacement. Until that person is found, marketing will be handled principally by CEO John Schnatter and Mary Ann Palmer, senior vice president and chief resource officer overseeing field marketing.
In a prepared statement Schnatter said, "We appreciate Syl's six years of service to the company and wish him the best."
Sosnowski, who is widely credited with steering the company through its lengthy court battle with Pizza Hut, is one of a handful of employees let go in a corporate restructuring. His responsibilities were gradually redistributed to Palmer and senior director of marketing analysis and strategic planning, Cathy Hull.
