BANGKOK -- Minor Food Group Plc estimates that sales of The Pizza Company grew by 20 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2002, while growth across all of the group's food segments would be about 15 percent, according to chairman Bill Heinecke.
According to a report in the Bangkok Post, The Pizza Company was by far Minor's best performer, with 10 more outlets due to open by year-end, while 12 franchises had been signed over, said Paul Kenny, Minor's chief executive officer.
Heinecke said the overall casual dining segment was experiencing healthy growth of 10 percent in Thailand. Minor also operates Sizzler, Swensen's, Dairy Queen, Chicken Treat and Burger King outlets.
Heinecke said the Thai pizza market was estimated to be worth 2.5 billion baht, and The Pizza Company was looking to capture 1.7 billion baht in sales.
