Tulsa, Okla.-based Top That! Pizza will host a fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 5 to benefit Oklahoma tornado victims. The event will be held at locations in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas, where 20 percent of collected receipts will be donated to the OK Strong Disaster Relief Fund.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, in coordination with the United Way of Central Oklahoma, recently established the OK Strong Disaster Relief Fund to assist with the long-term medical, emotional and educational needs of victims of the May 20 tornado in Moore and the May 19 tornado near Shawnee.
"After seeing such devastation in our home state, we were amazed at the outpouring of support to help the immediate needs of our fellow Oklahomans," said Lori Walderich, Top That! chief marketing officer. "We chose to team up with the OK Strong fund because it focuses on the emotional fallout that families and children endure when they lose everything. It's a healing process that can take years — even decades."
The event was initially spearheaded by Doug Wright, owner of the Edmond, Okla., location, and has since grown into a system-wide effort. Edmond is just 25 miles north of Moore and recently had its own tornado that struck a few miles from the restaurant.
Top That! Pizza was founded in Tulsa by Jeff and Lori Walderich in 2010.
