Topper's adds crowdsourced pizza to menu

Ontario-based Topper's Pizza will soon add the Greek-style chicken pizza to its menu. The pizza, created by Orangeville, Ontario, resident Chris Fryer, won the chain's 2013 Pizza Making Genius competition.

Fryer will also receive free pizza for a year.

The Greek-style chicken pizza features Mediterranean-inspired ingredients such as feta cheese, boneless chicken marinated in Topper's Famous House Dip, Kalamata olives, sweet red onions, diced tomatoes and a crust recipe that includes a secret cheese blend and garlic and tomato sauce.

Pizzas were judged on four criteria: appearance, aroma, taste and the likelihood to be recommended.

SickKids Healthy campaign

Additionally, Topper's Pizza's participation in the SickKids Healthy and Happy campaign is ramping up for the May 30 NEWSTALK 1010 SickKids Radiothon presented by Foresters. From 4 to 5 p.m., Topper's Pizza will match each donation from callers up to $30,000.

Throughout May and to complement the Healthy and Happy campaign, Topper's Pizza has solicited the help and support from its customers by offering a special promotion called The Hat Trick which is a large three-topping pizza, TopperSticks and chicken wings for $26.95. For each Hat Trick ordered, Topper's will donate $2 to SickKids. Additionally, coin collection boxes and an online donation form are available to customers who wish to make a donation directly to SickKids.

Money raised specifically through the Radiothon will help purchase a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) unit which uses advanced technology to detect cancer cells. This particular machine can detect a specific DNA abnormality or marker found in patients with certain blood cancers such as acute promyelocytic leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia.

Topper's Pizza has supported SickKids since early 2012.
