Topping manufacturer Burke expanding facility

NEVADA, Iowa -- Pizza topping manufacturer Burke Corp. is topping out its office space in Nevada, Iowa, and starting another building project.

The company is planning a two-story, 19,000-square-foot addition for office, lab and break room space. A 15,000-square-foot freezer was added this summer, according to The Tribune.

President Bill Burke Jr. said the company is nearly halfway through an eight-phase expansion plan that began five years ago. Additional expansion plans include reconstruction of the wastewater facility and construction of more production space.

Burke attributed the company's growth to its focus on customer service.

"It's getting the right product to the end consumer that keeps us in business," he said.

Burke Corp. sells under three main labels: Premoro (Italian foods); Tezzata (Mexican foods); and MagniFoods Specialty Meats. The company will continue to seek additional markets, including more Mexican and Asian food products, Burke said. More than 1,100 products are made at the Nevada facility.
