Training program at Monical's Pizza nets zero management turnover

BRADLEY, Ill. -- Monical Pizza Corporation has achieved what many industry people felt was an impossible dream -- zero general management turnover at its more than 35 corporate units for the last 12 months.

According to a release, in 2002 Monical's was named the Family Dining Employer of Choice by the Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association for its innovative employee and management training programs. The programs were developed from a curriculum developed at Harvard Business School and adapted by Monical's senior management team.

"Retaining all of our general managers for more than a year was just one of our many objectives," said Harry Bond, president of Monical's. (See related story Who's Who: Harry Bond.) "Keeping these talented and motivated team members is the result of treating them like the valuable partners that they are. ... I'm really hoping that next year we are all here celebrating two years without losing a single general manager."
