UNO focuses on craft beer, affordable cocktails for growth

As part of its growth plan, Uno Chicago Grill has announced a new emphasis on American craft beer and affordable cocktail offerings. It is promoting them heavily during games and its “Snack Hours” happy hour program.

Uno has recently announced the introduction of an ever-changing selection of Shaker's Choice 14 oz. premium cocktails that are priced at $4.99 every day. It is designed to compete with other companies' cocktail specials, not just from its competitive pricing, but from its portion size, use of premium spirits and wide selection.

The deep dish pizza chain is also catering to the growing craft beer experience, whose segment has grown in recent years. The Brewers Association reported a dollar growth rate of 12 percent for craft beer in the first six months of 2010, even as other American mass-produced lagers have been trending down. At a recent symposium at Denver’s Great American Beer Festival, the Association presented numbers that suggested pizzeria brewpubs have been somewhat shielded from restaurants' recent profit losses.

To cater to this opportunity, guests can now enjoy Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Samuel Adams Seasonal beers served in 16- or 22-ounce Samuel Adams “Perfect Pint” glasses. A selection of other beers is also available in 14- or 20-ounce glasses. Uno features a variety of regional, as well as craft, non-alcoholic and gluten-free beers.

Uno also features a "Snack Hours" menu, available in most locations Sunday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close. Guests can enjoy a variety of small, value-priced dishes.
