Willy O’s Pizza begins gluten-free mass production

South Haven, Mich.-based Willy O’s Pizza & Grille has earned plenty of awards for its gluten-free pizzas. Now, the restaurant's owner, Willy Olund, has decided to take these credentials and expand operations.

Olund's Willy O’s Gluten-Free Products, a mass producer of gluten-free pizza crusts and other items, has opened in nearby Holland, Mich., according to The Grand Rapids Press.

The 5,000-square-foot commercial kitchen and facility currently includes a take-and-bake retail component, and will roll out commercial-level production for stores and restaurants nationwide later this year.

Olund’s gluten-free pizza took first place in the non-traditional category at the 2010 International Pizza Challenge in Las Vegas. That same recipe also won him first place in the gluten-free category at the World Pizza Championships in Italy in November.
