LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's is officially rolling out its new Papa's Wings nationwide.
According to a news release, the new side item comes in two flavors: Spicy Buffalo and Mild Chipotle Barbeque flavors. Each order has 10 wings and is served with one of Papa John's signature dipping sauces, blue cheese, ranch or Buffalo for extra hot wings.
"We're listening to our customers and they want our Papa's Wings," said John Schnatter, founder and CEO of Papa John's.
In the past Schnatter voiced a preference for chicken tenders when he declared he wasn't "a wing guy."
The wings' national rollout will include a two-week TV advertising flight including the jingle, "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that (Papa John's) wing!" The campaign will include local television and dedicated print media.
Wings are not only big business at Pizza Hut, but a business in themselves for parent company Yum! Brands. Nearly three years ago, Yum launched its Wingstreet brand, and today there are 274 outlets cobranded with Pizza Hut units.
