Yum's net up 13 percent

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Worldwide comparable-store sales for restaurants operated by Yum Brands Inc. grew 2 percent in the second quarter ended June 16, the company announced.
 
Yum Brands operates the Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, Long John Silver's and A&W brands.
 
Comps for Yum's mainland China operations grew 7 percent, while comps for the company's international division grew 5 percent. Comps were flat for Yum's U.S. operations.
 
Yum's second-quarter revenues increased 9 percent to $2.4 billion, up from revenues of $2.2 billion in the second quarter of last year. Year-to-date revenues were $4.6 billion, up 7 percent from $4.3 billion for the first six months of 2006.
 
Net income for the company was $214 million for the second quarter, up 11 percent from net income of $192 million for the 2006 second quarter. Year-to-date net income was $408 million, up 13 percent from $362 million for the same period last year.
