Madison Heights, Mich.-based Hungry Howie's Pizza began a systemwide redesign effort in 2010 that features a new look and equipment. The new design has so far reduced labor costs and decreased ticket times, which increased efficiency and profits.
Hungry Howie's old exterior: The heritage branding from the old design has been maintained and the letter style is similar. The “Howie” character has been freshened up, but is still part of the brand.
Front Counter Before: Hungry Howie’s maintained its signature yellow color palette, but the new prototype has upgraded surfaces and cosmetics. The barriers between the ordering area and the kitchen have been removed so customers can see into the kitchen, watch preparation and interact with employees.
Hungry Howie’s new exterior: The new logo, which has updated typography, promotes the Flavored Crust Pizza right in the design.
New interior: The new interior includes glass yellow tile, pear wood tones and a touch of stainless steel. New menu board systems have been installed and the whole design is clean and fresh.
Pizza production area after: A new customized, energy-efficient refrigeration system is being integrated in the kitchen, along with new heated cabinets for holding pizza at the proper temperature.
