Long white dress. Bouquets of exotic flowers. Diamonds. Today's weddings — which theknot.com said now ring in at an average cost around $32,500 — are pretty posh affairs. So why wouldn't today's forward-thinking couples also want to be registered for pizza bargains too for delivery to their love nests before, during and after the big day?
Domino's thinks that logic makes perfect sense. That's why the chain is launching its very own wedding registry just in time for that celebration of love, Valentine's Day, according to a news release.
"Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so we wanted to give recently engaged couples that are passionate about pizza the chance to register for something they both truly love as much as their partner," Domino's spokesperson, Jenny Fouracre, said in a news release about the new offering. "Choosing wedding gifts can be a daunting process, especially if couples can't agree on what to register for. Our registry aims to bring couples together over their shared love of pizza."
And this isn't just about what the little lovebirds want on their pies. Domino's is also setting itself up as matrimony and matrimonial etiquette central with ways for the couple's friends and families to chip in on parties before and after or just treat couples to a post-wedding Domino's "date night," delivered via eGift cards for pizza and other treats.
"We hear often from customers that Domino's was a part of their big day, from proposals to after-hours meals at their wedding," Fouracre said. "We wanted to make it easier for people to ask for and receive something that they'll really use."
Registrants select their pizza-related gift choices, then share their wish lists via social media or with a unique URL. Wedding guests can also search for a registry by using the names and wedding date of the soon-to-be newlyweds.
The registry is accessed via dominosweddingregistry.com, and we are almost certain it’s the first pizza-related registry on the planet.
But it likely won't be the last, nor the last of a lifelong series of registries to follow the lives of the couple, through pregnancies, birthdays, graduations and whatever else life delivers to their door.
