Something cheesy for Cheese Pizza Day

If you're a pizza person, you already know, but for those who maybe don't live and die for the pie, let this be your formal notice that Sept. 5 is National Cheese Pizza Day. Let the revelry begin, but take a moment to pay your respects with this infinitely cheesy poem.

Oh, you morsels of mold!
You fruits of fermentation!
You cheeses of the world
Our global infatuation.

And, for the best
and the brightest of you,
There is only one perch
That will ever do.

That is, of course,
Atop the great pizza pie,
Where a cheese can look
Its adorers straight in the eye.

Then, they open mouths wide
And pull your stringiness in
Savoring the melted marvel,
Then breaking a big grin.

This is the moment
For which all pizza-eaters pine —
More than mere joy,
But a touch of the divine.
