2 more firms reportedly pondering Papa John's buy

November 1, 2018

Bain Capital and CVC Capital Partners — both private equity firms — are among those trying to buy Papa John's International, according to a Reuters story

For weeks, the online financial and restaurant communities have been buzzing with rumors about potential buyers for the troubled brand, even as its controversial founder, John Schnatter — who still has 30 percent interest in the company — has continued to seek more control

Among others Reuters said have been chasing the brand are private equity firms KKR & Co Inc. and Roark Capital, who are expected to make binding offers soon. Trian Fund Management LP is also considering the brand for investment if it's sold, Reuters said.

Papa John's itself has repeatedly said leadership will not comment on rumors around a potential sale, though Pizza Marketplace is seeking further details about Reuters' latest reports.
