LOS ANGELES -- California Pizza Kitchen appears to have reversed its first quarter 2003 sales woes, when it reported comparable-store sales were off more than 2 percent.
According to a news release, for the first nine weeks of the second quarter, same-store sales are up in the "mid 2 percent range" and revenue is up 16 percent. Exact figures weren't mentioned in the partial-quarter report.
The 155-restaurant company announced the news just prior to a June 4 management update at the Jolson Merchant Partners Research Conference in San Francisco, and a similar update at the US Bancorp Piper Jaffray Consumer Conference in New York on June 10.
