DALLAS -- CEC Entertainment, parent company of Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza, reported a 0.1 percent increase in comparable-store sales for its second quarter ended June 27, 2004. According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, a 0.5 percent menu price increase was responsible for the comp rise.
Revenue for the period was up 8.2 percent to $165.4 million, compared to $152.9 million in the same period of last year. An increase in the number of company-operated restaurants was responsible for the boost, the filing said. Net income for the quarter was $15.3 million, up from $14.8 million in the comparable period in 2003.
For the first six months of 2004, comps were up 2.8 percent, helped by a menu price increase of 0.7 percent since the same period last year. Revenues for the period rose 10.5 percent to $372.4 million, compared to $337 million in the same period in 2003.
