MELVILLE, N.Y. — Sbarro, Inc. reported a 0.6 percent sales increase in its second quarter, ended, July 11, 2004.
According to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, total sales were $68.7 million, compared to $68.2 million in the second quarter of 2003. Sbarro credited nearly all the increase to higher sales in its quick-service business.
For the first half of 2004, sales rose 1.8 percent to $159.5 million, compared to $156.8 million for the same period in 2003.
A slight price hike is expected to boost sales 2 percent over the whole of 2004, the company said.
Sbarro has opened 25 units so far this year, while closing 20. As of July 11, it operated 920 outlets.
