HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — BJ's Restaurants Inc., operator of 44 pizza-and-craft-brew-themed restaurants, said its third-quarter comparable-store sales rose 5.5 percent for the 13 weeks ended Oct. 4, 2005.
According to a news release, net income for the period was $2.3 million, up from $1.2 million posted in the comparable period. Revenue was $47.6 million compared to $32.8 million last year.
"Our 5.5 percent comparable sales increase for the quarter represented our 36th consecutive quarter of growth in comparable-restaurant sales since the company's IPO in 1996," said BJ's president and chief executive Jerry Deitchle. "Additionally, we continue to be pleased with our positive sales momentum outside of our home state of California. The nine restaurants in our comparable base that are located outside of California achieved a 7.1 percent increase in comparable restaurant sales for the quarter."
The company said it plans to continue expanding at a rate of 20 percent to 25 percent for the next several years.
