LONDON — Domino's Pizza UK & IRL reported strong results for the first 26 weeks of 2005, ending July 3.
According to a news release, comparable-store sales at 317 of the group's 380 stores rose 8.4 percent for the period, while system-wide sales increased 19 percent to £97.1 million (U.S. $169 million), compared to £81.5 million (U.S. $142 million).
Revenue from orders placed online climbed an impressive 64 percent to £6.5 million (U.S. $11.3 million) compared to £4 million (U.S. $7 million) in the period last year. The company claims e-commerce now represents 10.6 percent of its sales.
Pre-tax profit for the period was £5 million (U.S. $8.7 million), up from £4 million (U.S. $7 million) last year.
Twenty-three new units were added during the period.
"As our market share continues to grow within this expanding sector, we look forward to opening a total of between 800 and 1,000 Domino's Pizza stores in the UK and Ireland," said Stephen Hemsley, the group's chief executive.
