ACON purchase to fuel Peter Piper Pizza expansion
January 10, 2007
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — ACON Investments' recent acquisition of the Peter Piper Pizza chain will accelerate the 132-unit company's expansion plans.
According to a news release, Peter Piper plans to open 20 new locations in 2007 and push annual revenue beyond $200 million.
New company-owned restaurants are planned for Arizona and Texas, and six franchised locations are expected to open Mexico. The company also wants a greater presence in the cities of Portland, Seattle, Denver, Salt Lake City and several major cities in California.
"We've been opening new restaurants steadily at a 5-to-10 percent rate for the past several years, and this investment by ACON enables us to increase that," said Frank Sbordone, chief executive and president of Peter Piper Pizza. "A great deal of energy has gone into this concept recently, including enhanced branding efforts, new menu items, a new restaurant design and a large investment in remodeling our restaurants. We've got a great framework in place and we're excited at the opportunity to introduce the Peter Piper brand in new markets and share it with new franchise partners."
