Aliño Pizzeria gave away 2,782 pizzas to healthcare workers, first responders, teachers and other essential workers during its COVID Heroes Appreciation Day on Dec. 7, according to a press release.
The Mooresville, North Carolina restaurant gave away a free Margherita pizza (fresh buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh basil and fresh garlic) or its signature Sorrento pizza (pepperoni, San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and fresh garlic) to first responders, teachers, grocery store workers, healthcare workers and other COVID frontline staff.
"It has been an amazing, wonderful day. Everybody was incredibly appreciative and happy," Michal Bay, Aliño Pizzeria owner, said in the release. "The day was very, very successful — a 100 out of 100."
Aliño Pizzeria previously three hosted Heroes Appreciation Days in 2020, giving away nearly 7,000 pizzas over the three days to healthcare workers, first responders and others.
