Atlanta's Varasano's among Elite 8 Pizzerias
February 21, 2010
Atlanta-based Varasano's Pizzeria has announced the restaurant was recently listed as one of the Elite 8 Pizzerias in the USA. The pizzeria was listed in Every Day With Rachael Ray Magazine.
The single-elimination bracket was judged by Ed Levine, author of "Pizza: A Slice of Heaven," and Adam Kuban, editor of the pizza blog Slice. The bracket featured 64 of the nation's best pizzerias, including many well known institutions such as Sally's and Pepe's in New Haven, Conn., Lombardi's in New York, Mario Batali's Mozza in Los Angeles, and Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix.
"We are thrilled," said Jeff Varasano, the man behind Varasano's Pizzeria and the Internet's No. 1 source on how to make pizza. "Our goal is to bring world class pizza to Atlanta, but we never expected this kind of recognition so soon.
This isn't the first award Varasano's has received. The growing list of laurels includes Best Pizza (Jezebel Magazine & Atlanta Cuisine), Top 15 New Restaurants (Atlanta Magazine) and Top 10 Restaurants of 2009 (Citysearch), just to name a few. Varasano's also has been profiled in The New York Times and on National Public Radio.
Varasano's Pizzeria, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, is located at 2171 Peachtree Road NE in Atlanta.
