Australian pizza chain debuts new dessert flavors

November 17, 2009

With Australians increasingly craving a sweet side to accompany their pizzas, Eagle Boys Pizza has bolstered its Dessert Thingies range with the launch of new "Strawberry White Choc" and "Triple Choc" flavors.

Developed by Eagle Boys Pizza's executive chef Melanie Townsend, Dessert Thingies are made fresh to order and offer a new twist on classic "fast food" desserts.

First launched 12 months ago, Townsend said Dessert Thingies were the result of customer research and experimenting with flavors in the kitchen.

"Using quality ingredients like choc chips, strawberries, custard and icing sugar, my goal is to develop a divine treat to complement a pizza.

"There is no doubt that Australians are chocoholics so it was a natural evolution to develop the Strawberry White Choc and Triple Choc Dessert Thingies."

The initial launch of Eagle Boys' Dessert Thingies line recently won a Franchise Council of Australia Excellence in Marketing merit award.

Eagle Boys Pizza is Australia's second largest pizza maker and is 100 percent Australian-owned. It operates 285 franchised stores throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, employing more than 4,000 staff and making more than 16 million pizzas a year.
