Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza top-your-own concept opening in California

The founders of Wetzel's Pretzels plan on opening a top-your-own pizza concept – Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza – near the University of California Irvine Campus this summer.

According to the OC Register, Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza will feature personal-sized pizzas from a pre-set menu, or customers can build their own pies with the available toppings. Eleven-inch pizzas will sell for $6.85, while cheese pizzas will be $5.

Elise and Rick Wetzel partnered with Chef Bradford Kent, who owns Olio Pizzeria & Café in Los Angeles, to develop a product that works for the assembly-line concept.

Numerous top-your-own concepts have emerged in the past couple of years, including Top That! Pizza, Mod Pizza, Pie Five Pizza Co., Pie-ology and Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint.
