Blaze Pizza has confirmed that it has the final elements in place to go public, a key step that brand leadership sees toward beginning to take a run at pizza's so-called Big Three of Domino's, Pizza Hut and Papa John's, which are all publicly traded now.
Blaze Pizza co-founder Rick Wetzel told Yahoo Finance Thursday that now that the chain has put mobile ordering firmly in place and most recently added larger "family-sized" pies, it's primed to take on the big competition.
"We are ready to take on Domino's, yes," Wetzel told Yahoo Finance.
Wetzel and wife, Elise, co-own the chain, which is known for its rocketing rate of growth. Blaze Pizza expects to have opened 50 new restaurants this year along, bringing its total to nearly 400, which is much smaller than the three main players in the category.
Wetzel told Yahoo Finance the brand seeks to go public within three years.
