Blaze Pizza CEO Jim Mizes has retired, the brand said this afternoon. The fast-growing fast casual has named its CFO, Amanda ("Mandy") Shaw interim CEO and president after Mizes resigned Aug. 23.

The brand said in a news release that Mizes — who has seen Blaze through phenomenal growth and public accolades — has been working with Shaw to ensure a smooth transition for the business. Prior to her role with Blaze, Shaw served in several roles at Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's and Bonefish Grill parent, Bloomin' Brands, Inc. including CIO and CFO for Bloomin's international divisions, as well as CAO during its transition to a private company and its subsequent IPO.
There has been some talk throughout the industry that Blaze may be considering an IPO as well, but the brand did not provide any information about that this week. A board committee has begun to search for Mizes' successor and said it will consider candidates internally and externally for the chain that currently has 341 restaurants in 42 states and five countries.
