Boston Pizza gearing up for full-scale expansion

The Globe and Mail: Boston Pizza is considered a local landmark in many parts of Western Canada. That's not the case east of Manitoba, although a full-blown expansion plan may soon change that. But there's one place the restaurant chain doesn't need to raise its profile: Bay Street.

The casual-dining company — which went public two years ago amid a flurry of Canadian income trust offerings — has been a stock market darling since its IPO, rising 45 percent and regularly touching 52-week highs.

The reason for its popularity? Chief executive officer Mike Cordoba and analysts following the company credit management's ability to never give up on its simple mantra: make the franchises profitable then parlay that success into the sale of more franchises to prospective restaurateurs.
